HELP: What fish can i put with my female

Hi, I have a female and i want to put some more fish in my tank, i have no experience and i have searched the internet but now confused. can some one just give the name of some fish i can buy. i have inherited her and just want give her some friends, it may be that its best to have her on her own. i just don't know. Thank you

What size tank do you have, is it filtered or any live plants....this will help us know what species of fish to recommend.....
