Exclamation Mystery disease??? Need help!!

Not my betta tank, my community tank is in jeopardy.

I have a thirty gallon tank that has mostly guppy's with a few tetras, cherry shrimp and clams in it, lots of plants. It was doing great looked like fish Shangri-La for months, now I have some kind of disease that I haven't seen before.
It is mostly just affecting the guppy's, they get a white band around the mid section, start acting sluggish, loose color and then die within a day or two? I have lost 7-8 fish in the last week to this. All of the ones that die start out with the wide white band around the mid section.
What the heck have my fish got? And how can I fix?

Any help or solution would be greatly appreciated.

Are any of the scales popping up?
How often and how much water are you changing?
Conditioner?
What type of clams?
Any chance for a picture?
At any point does the white band look to be fuzzy, or lost scales?
Did you add any new fish/clams/plants shortly before the outbreak?

A white band around midsection has been seen on fish with Columnaris, and Dropsy.. among other illnesses.. so unsure exactly what is causing it at this time without some more information. My guess is most likely a bacterial infection, but unsure what is causing it and how it's spreading.

I'll see if I can get a pic, the closest thing I have found that looks like it is a disease neons get with a white band.

I don't know what kind of clams they are? Some are about the size of a dime and dark, some are about the size of a babies fingernail and white.

The scales don't pop up on the sick fish, but the tails start to look frayed.

Here is a pic of a female guppy with it. Fish at the bottom. Males and females are getting it.
Sorry for the crappy cell phone pic.
