Can you try to do 50 % water changes and see if it will perk him up. Kee things as dark and quite as possible for him.

I don't see any physical symptoms on him. I would try more water changes and see if it helps and if not i would do aquarium salt treatment. Unless someone will give another recommendation..Do you know instructions on aq salt?

Yeah, don't use any of the "fix" meds. And neons need a school of 6 or more. Sorry, about your guy, just thought I should add that. Stress coat helps with fin healing, my boy is a bored tailbiter and it's done wonders for his caudal, not so much for his anal, ventral & dorsal. :/

So here is what I did. I did a 100% water change to completely get rid of the melafix. I used roughly a 1-1.5 tsp/gallon and added some stress coat. Before he would just lay behind or on the heater and/or moss ball. So I took a dark old shirt and covered the tank except for a slit on the bottom. As soon as I did this, he perked up and started flaring up and swimming around beautifully. I was watching him and noticed that his fins are no longer ripped or damaged and the end of his fins are as they should be!! I am very happy and I enjoy peaking in and watching him swimming about so beautifully. :D he still is basically colorless but I can tell that the blue lining around his fins are coming back. So I am very happy. :)

Does anyone know how long it will take him to heal up completely? I live on campus and have to leave for spring break and I'm afraid if i transfer him home he will die (my previous betta did). :(

Thank you to everyone who posted!!! :)

If you have him in 2 gall keep changing his water 1-50% and 1-100% water changes a week. I hope he will continue to do better. Keep eye on him..

I saw post when someone transferred the betta in the styrofoam container. Put his container in side and put sponge all around it or clothe so his container don't flipped or to avoid bumping into the sides....Have a gall of dechlorinated water with you just in case. Make sure it a hole in the lid for the air.
Also you transfer him make sure you acclimating properly. And do small water changes for a first few days 25% ....and then regular changes for 2 gall.

Keep us update.

I It fine. You will feed Saturday. Then he will be without of food just for 2 days. Then you coming back on wed and you will fed him. It fine.
You change 100% of the water today. I would change it again on saturday before you live. Then when you come back on wed do 100% water changes. Then if you can change him on wed and live again for 2 days. He will be fine. Basically he will be 1 day without food which is fine.
Just make sure you keep do water changes . For 2 gall it 1-50% and 1-100% a week.
Just don't overfeed him. I really don't recommend to give more than 3 pellet at once. I give them 2 in the morning and 2 in the evening. Even though you fasting him while you out but don't overfeed so he don't get bloated .....

Are you able to maintain the temperature?

Edit: You can do 50% water changes on saturday before you go.

You are doing a salt treatment on him right? Aq salt should only be used for up to ten days.
