i'm unsure of how many of you know about Joesph Kony and the horrible things he's done. so i'm posting this wherever i possibly can to get the word out to as many people possibly.

Wow. I just had to look up what Kony was.. I feel bad now. I actually saw the "Invisible Children" documentary a couple months ago.. What a sad sad film.
And people have been posting this all over my facebook, honestly, with some of the campagns people want me to "join" I just looked over one of the most important ones!

don't feel bad. i did the same thing! but ya know, people post lame stuff all the time. but after so many people posting it i finally watched it. and it touched me.

I find it a great pity that our societies cannot get this worked up over the horrifically rampant child abuses which go on under their own noses.

Untold thousands of British, American and Australian children suffer sexual, physical and mental abuse every day. Many are raped, murdered, starved or injured by repeat offenders who should never get a second opportunity to harm a child - but very often get many opportunities, thanks to a flawed system.

There is not a single 'poster face' to mobilise against in the case of child pornography or rampant neglect as there is with the distant villain Kony, so maybe that's where apathy for the terrible scope of child suffering, poverty, neglect and abuse in our own nations is a little easier to sustain.

Perhaps it's simply because this is our own back yard and we don't like to face the fact that suffering goes on under our noses, while the majority choose to remain oblivious.

TL;DR version: it's much easier to focus on somebody else's bad guy.

I will say my views on this will not win me any popularity contest.
Here is what I posted on FB today actually

"Sigh getting spammed by another band wagon. Everyone is jumping to a new limelight issue in the world. Everyone has jumped to this KONY 2012 thing. Guess what I honestly don't care. If people really cared they would have done this back in 06 when the invisible children documentary was filmed, or back when the world declared him a war criminal, or back in 10 when Obama sent troops over there to "help"
People have just decided this is the new cause to support. Why because its the popular one to support, not because they truly care.
So go rally in your hometown streets, and spread the news, make more people yearning to be a part of the popular trend join. I for one will not.
I agree the man is a monster and has done horrible things. But guess what, standing around in a circle all agreeing isn't going to do jack. It isn't going to change the world. If armies of several different countries can't do anything when they are there at ground zero. Why do people think them going oh my yes we must do something, lets sit on our rears and complain about it, think that is going to do anything.
I say leave me out of it. I don't care, I don't want to support you cause, I just want to deal with the stuff in my own life and live it the best I can."

ARG I had this whole long post ready to post and my comp decided to freak out and loose it ARG!!!.
So in summery now.

In short.

I agree the man is an evil monster, and should be stopped.
I don't think 98% of the people supporting this really care though. They are just jumping on the band wagon because it is the new popular, trendy, edgy, humanitarian cause. In short it makes them look good. That is the only reason the pretend to care. In a month they will have forgotten this and moved onto the next cause to continue looking good.

As for me while I agree he should be stopped. There is nothing I can do about it. Joining those hypocrites and standing around in the streets handing out flyers will do nothing. Honestly my life has not been affected by this thing up till now, and either way it wont affect my life any more than me spending sometime writing this.

If you truly and I mean truly care about this cause then support it, do what you feel is right.

I don't honestly. As I said it has not even come up in my life till now and it won't again in a month or less when this all dies down again. If I jumped on the band wagon I would be nothing more than one of those hypocritical people who do it to look good. So I won't, nothing more nothing less.
