Weird stuff on top of water

So I've been having a problem with all of my tanks, this unusual film keeps developing on the top of the water. It's clear but fogs up the top really well. The fish can get through it but I tend to break it up whenever I see it, and it disintegrates into little white pieces whenever I do.

Any idea what this is?

My tanks are still in the process of being cycled, also. They're all filtered, and I do 25-40% once a week on them all, they're 10gallons with three betta in each. I use API Stress Coat for the conditioner.

I think that's what they call a protein film. You can clean it by putting a paper towel over the top of the surface and let it touch the film. Then take it out. The film should stick to the paper.

That's weird that you have that while running a filter. It normally only forms on water with no surface agitation.

i have that also. my tank is not filtered though. the film does not seem to affect my betta. im thinking it is a film of the vinigar i used to clean my tank before putting kayto in. like i said, he does not seem to mind. i have also heard that it could be residue if your betta has a thick slime coat.

It doesn't really do anything bad, just do the paper towel thing to get rid of it..

ohh okay, awesome, thank you guys. i have dividers that block the rippling of the filter, the film doesn't develop in the sides with the filters, just the other two.
