Water testing kits, which one?

I'm sure most everyone will recommend the pricey API kit, but I thought I would ask anyway. LOL

Which kits are best? I do not currently have one and I know I should get one. I don't have a lot of funds right at the moment, but if the API is far better than the ones with the strips I will try to get it.

Thank you!

From what I read I purchased the API master kit. They supposedly receive much more accurate readings, you get much more tests than strips and it has ammonia, ph, nitrate, and nitrite tests in the kit.

I found it worth the 30 dollars.

Well, I went ahead and bought the API kit. $30 at the pet store, but at least I don't have to wait for shipping!

I am not yet home, but I plan to test his water (and my tap water) as soon as I am there.

They didn't have the plant fertilizer I needed (substrate fertilizer - root tabs) but I did get some more gravel.

Now to hope I can leave soon.. *stuck @ work*

The LFS in Coburg wants 80 bucks.. to heck with that. I found it online from a Melbourne company for $50, which is a bit more reasonable:
