Unhappy Is my fish sick?

I had a Betta fish for 3 1/2 years, his name was Swimmy. I knew he was dying because he changed color and just layed on the bottom of the bowl. I waited a few weeks and got another Betta. Also a male, his name is Charlie. I used the same bowl for him, of course I cleaned it out well. I bought him new rocks.

When I first got him, he seemed happy. But lately he just lays at the bottom and does not eat. Sometimes if I go near the tank he gets up and starts swimming in very fast circles almost sticking his head completely out of the bowl. After going around a few times, he goes back to the bottom and lays on his side again. Is there anything I can do for him?

How often do you change the water and how big is his bowl?

of course, he is old for a betta so it may just be his time.

Charlie is new, I got him in February. The one I had for 3 1/2 years died. I change him every 2 weeks, but his water is clean right now. I am not sure of the size of his bowl, but it's fairly large. Just wanted to know what the swimming in circles meant.

Maybe your betta is overfed. It swims fast in circles maybe he is not comfortable with his body. So it takes time for him to slowly digest the foods and defecate.

Try not to feed him for 1.5 days. Then feed him with very small amount of foods.
Partial water change may help.

The betta eats very little.
And you should also do partial water changes 30% at least once per week to make sure it is safe from diseases and poisonous water chemistry.
