Exclamation Adding a Heater to a Tank

I decided to get a heater for my fish tank of my betta Bella. The water she's in now is about room temperature, so what is the best way to ease her into her new water temperature without hurting her?

I would remove her (cup or bag her), add the heater and let the tank get to the correct temperature (79-82F), then slowly acclimatise her back in as if she were a new fish. :)

I would just take a little plastic bag, use old tank water to fill it and get her in there (make sure there is room for air in the bag). Get the water up to the desired temperature, float the bag in the warmer water for about 10-20 mins, then set her free.

Thanks so much! :) Do you have a heater you recommend?

No. I don't recommend heaters because everyone has their own opinions on heaters. You should definitely find a heater that is recommended for your tank size... that much I can tell you. You can find adjustable heaters or preset heaters. I personally use a preset heater because of the temperature of my apt (the heater keeps it 5-10 degrees above room temperature).

Whereas I would always use an adjustable one because temperatures here fluctuate so much. :) It's what works best for you. I will tell you this, though - usually, you get what you pay for with heaters.
