I'm new to this betta id stuff. Picked this little guy up from the store last night. He looked really bad when I got him home but is alot more lively, and has a lot more color now. I was just wanting to know what kind of betta it was and what type of color pattern it is.
The vase is a little over 1 gallon. I know it's small but it was a last minute thing and it's alot bigger than that little cup he had been in for who knows how long. It looks smaller because of the plant. I'm too cheap to buy plants from the pet department. One bunch of silk roses in the craft section are onlly 94 cents. Tear off the roses, adjust the plastic covered wires to the lenth you want and now you have a soft plant for your tank. He seems to really like it. It's like a giant jungle gym for him. He swims through all of the different leaves all day. He seems really happy.
I just looked at the pic, you can only see about a third of the vase.
Over one gallon isn't bad. You may want to get a proper tank when you can, though, as obviously it doesn't give him much swimming room. :) I'd also suggest covering the top with cling film (poke some holes in it) so he doesn't jump. It will also help reduce evaporation. :)
I'm heating it with a 1940's style, all metal, dest lamp. I've got it set to when the lamp is on the water temp will get to 78 degrees, but not any hotter. The lamp itself gets really hot though! They don't make them like that anymore. I'll get a good take with a heater next payday. Just what I need, another expensive hobby.
