Looks like she's going to explode

Hello, I have a very big concern with one of my betta females. She looks completely bloated. I thought she was filling up with eggs at first but she hasn't seen a male since the day I bought her about a month ago. She started getting bigger and bigger. Now her egg spot looks like its protruding. I thought she was just bursting with eggs so I put her in the breeding tank with a male. She is showing NO interest! I'm scared I dont know what is wrong with her.

She might be constipated. Maybe try putting her in a hospital tank with some epsom salt and letting her fast. You feed her every day, but from what I've read it's best to let them fast one day a week to give their digestive system a rest.

Sounds like you have a great tank set up (my betta lives in a 2 gallon at the moment).

I'm no expert, but if your trying to breed her, couldn't she be full of eggs?

That's the thing. I thought she was full of eggs and about to pop. I thought if I bred her, she'd be ok. I was wrong. She died this morning. I'm super depressed about it. She was my only cellophane and I really liked her. I called her Big Momma because she was so intimidating looking.

So sorry for your loss :( But just in the future if it happens again to any of the betta...If betta is bloated and you think you over feed fish then you need to fast it, if it doesn't help then you need to treat it with Epsom salt. There is special instruction on that though.
Also daphnia is also known as a fresh water flea. They are very good for bettas, to help clean their digestive track out.

Also bloating can be due to constipation, SBD, internal parasites…

Epsom salt for buoyancy issues, swim bladder problems, constipation, internal parasite along with medications….

I am wondering how much you feed your betta.
