Question betta behavior

First off sorry for any typos, I'm writing from my phone.

My betray and his tetras have been getting along swimmingly for the past week in their 10 g tank. A couple days ago I put a wrap around background to help reduce his reflection and cut down on flares. I've noticed that since I've put it up he's been blowing little bubbles but swimming rapidly and near the uncovered wall of the tank. Could he be stressing out because the background is causing more reflection?

Is he blowing the bubbles at the top in about the same place to make a cluster? It could be a bubble nest.

At first I was hoping the same, but the bubbles are too small (smaller than a pin head) or never near anything else. For now I take the bubbles as a good thing but it is the erratic swimming that is worrying me.

Does your background has pictures of other fish on it by any chance? My friend had one that's he give me because it had a regal tank on it and her betta was flaring at it all the time and hiding.

Our background is has a black color covered with a lot of green plants and a driftwood log. No fish at all and the black is only nearest the top and in the spaces where there is nothing else.

When I turned on his light this morning he seemed calmer but within a half hour when I was running out the door at work, he was pacing at the glass again. My husband and I are going to take it down this afternoon if he hasn't calmed down.

Another thought I had is could part of the problem be that we covered 3 sides of the tank rather than just the back wall? Before we covered them we knew he was seeing his reflection in the sides of the tank and wanted to cut that down too.
