missing part of his tail!!!!!

When I woke up this morning I noticed my male betta was missing part of his tail!!! He was fine when i went to bed and he seems really aggressive. As soon as you walk up to his tank he swims at you all puffed up. I have him in a 2 gal tank with silk plants if anyone has any ideas whats going on with him i would appreciate the help!!!

Sorry to hear about that! Their could be a couple of reasons why this happened to your lil guy. He could of gotten it caught on something sharp or he bit it. A lot of betta bite their tails (their called tail bitters) they do this usually out of boredom. Maybe if you post a pic we could get a clear picture of your bettas tail.

I change the water once a week with purified water and i use the tetra fizz tablets to condition the water. I have a tank heater that keeps the water around 78 to 80 degrees and I have the bed leaf close to the surface. When i wake up in the morning for work hes usually laying on it.

You could change decorations or move them around. Maybe more or different plants. A larger tank is always a good idea in my opinion. Also, I've heard of people floating (cleaned) ping pong balls in their tanks. Apparently some betta get a kick out of bouncing them out of the water.

2 gallons is what i keep my delta in. try changing his decor at every water change, and up them to twice a week.

A 2 Gal tank should be a nice size. But there are different causes for tial biting. Boredom, stress, or because they can. Some boys will bite because they can. Beth has some good ideas about changing the decor and the ping pong balls.
