Is this a male or female?

Just picked this dragonscale up at petsmart, because shes goooorgeous (doing a sorority, got three yesterday)... but for some reason, I'm looking at her closer now and doubting her gender. Just really big fins- not sure if that matters... but part of me is saying it is a boy.

Not sure how many more I should be putting in, as I want a few more colours (turqouise/blue, yellow) in a 72g...don't see too much bickering, 2 of the 3 will flare at each other and chase, they flare at other fish but dont bother them too much honestly- even the guppys, the white one today hasn't bothered anybody yet. It will eventually be all planted out, stuff just needs to grow in.

I'm going to say definitely a male based on the ventral fins.

How many females do you have in the tank right now? A sorority is at least five females, and a tank that large could handle much more than that. Of course, not sure what else it's stocked with either so it could be hard to say. You could try AqAdvisor.com to give you a general idea though.

That is a bummer. I don't have another tank for him (thats heated and filtered anyway) :\ Think I can leave him in there for now? Hes the same size as all the other girls and shown no aggression, but I dont want to end up with stressed out dead fish the next morning.

edit: I have 3 girls in there -planned on 5-7ish. Tank isnt overstocked (yet).

He has a few weeks before he becomes a little monster.

If you still have the cup he came in you could float him in that inside the larger tank if you'd feel better doing that.

Yup, looks like a guy to me. In my experience, Petsmart doesn't sell dragon scale females, only males. And your guy looks like my white dragon scale plakat, Spackle. Almost identical.
