This is really for those with boyfriends/girlfriends, husbands/wives or partners.
My other half, Dan, doesn't get it. Thinks that fish are low maintenance pets that should be fed once a day and left to it. So when I started going on about teaching Kyon tricks and picking out plants for him and the tetras he does this face >>>. I can tell when I talk about fish he's ignoring me because he's sick of hearing it. He sounded like a girl when I asked him to move my pond snail into a different tank while I treat the tetras for white spot and looked at me like my head was falling off when I mentioned cultivating white worms. Think he hates this site for costing him lots of money
What do your other halves think? Are they as into it as you? Just be interesting to see.
My bf thinks I pamper my fish too much, asks me why I'm changing the water when it's "clean", thinks fish are just fish, the list could go on. What the worst part is, is that he owns two bettas himself. We have an agreement that he takes care of his tanks and I take care of mine, however, he is constantly telling me how to take care of my fish (keep in mind what I've said above). I feel sorry for his bettas.
I don't get it because he was the one who wanted to have an aquarium. He supposedly dated the fish girl from petsmart or petco some time ago. Was she this obliviously to fish-keeping or did he not learn anything. Why is he choosing to remain ignorant. All this is beyond me.

Has he asked why you are treating the tetras? Just curious because I am treating Rosso for fin rot and he is asking me why I'm using a smaller tank as opposed to the bigger tank. Well, because of the water changes required for the treatment.
My boyfriend used to be indifferent about it. He would never talk me down for caring about...well, anything. He respects stuff I am interested in and I respect stuff he is interested in. However, now that he sees Sake's personality, he is totally into him. He works from home and sits next to Sake's tank so Sake is more attached to him than he is to me. It's really cute to watch.
My boyfriend thinks it's pretty cool(:I mean we're both young and we love what each other do. He goes to all of my cheerleading competitions, dance recitals, fish auctions. And I go to all of his stupid hockey games ;D (lol just kidding). But he actually thinks its pretty cool. He fish-sits when I'm gone and even when we're hanging out and he's over he'll take care of my fish. We even got matching crown tails, until he failed to keep it alive... Maybe he should stick to hockey :)
ThomasDog, you and MaisyDawg confuse me so much with your names. You are a girl and he is a boy...just change your names, people! :p
My boyfriend has two tanks, but I'm not sure how much care he takes of them. I know that one of them is not well stocked. The other is not too bad, though. He does think I'm bonkers, that's for sure.
My boyfriend is pretty much indifferent except when it comes to sluggles. Sluggles was this about ready to keel over from ammonia poisioning CT we saw at walmart in december. He was lying on his side, rapid gill and mouth movement, unable to swim and was missing most of his fins. For reasons that I will never understand - "HE" decided that "I" wanted to save that one...and I was like There is no way this pathetic blue lump of a CT is gonna even survive the night. After a week of being in "fishie intensive care" he was doing alot better and he is now living in a 5 gallon tank.
so, he does not really care for the fish except for sluggles and barron von fishie fins but he only likes him because of his name. I doubt he even knows which one it is.
my mother on the other hand - OMG! Dont even get me started on her ignorance. seriously.
