Can't figure out if Mr.Fishburne is sick or not

I've had my crowntail betta, Mr. Fishburne, for about 3 months. I keep him in a one gallon cube, heated to 76-77 degrees. I usually do 100% water changes once to twice weekly. I use Prime conditioner in his water.

About 1 month ago, I decided to try using a cup to remove him instead of a net, thinking it would be safer...well, I accidentally caught some ray tips from his anal fin between the cup edge and the side of the tank and broke them off!! Now, I've been noticing that the webbing on his anal fin looks somewhat transparent. The picture of him flaring is from before the "cupping" incident.

I've started adding 1/2 tsp Aquarium salt to his water and I have been using Bettafix for the last five days. I haven't seen any change. There are no dark edges like what I hear about with finrot. Does anyone have any ideas after looking at the pictures? Thanks so much.

The transparent effects are most likely due to healing as when most bettas go through growing or healing fins they grow back clear while the color up later in time

bettafix/melafix/pimafix any thing that ends in fix arent recommended medications. Although Im currently using melafix with Antione, because it was all i had :/ with these medications i was told theyre normally not bad for their labrynth organ as long as you dont overdose them. Make sure you know how much water is in your tank (its not what the box said when you got it. mine said 5.5 and really its about 4.6) and use just a little less than whats called for. you have a 1 gal so it shouldnt be too much of a difference. Also i dont think i would use both salt and bettafix at the same time. But finish out your bettafix treatment so if there is any bacteria it cant build up immunity. Just be careful. Are you premixing the salt before adding it? and how much are you using?

I really hope your little guy gets better! Im currently having troubles with my boy Antione but things are starting to look up after asking around on here :)

Yes, I am premixing the salt in hot water...I've been using 1/2 tsp. Thanks for your reply.

i usually hear about 1 tsp per gallon. dont know if you should add more or not but thats usually whats recommended it seems. you said the fins were transparent... maybe its just the pictures but they dont seem any more transparent than the first one... hows he doing now?

Normally both Epsom and Aquarium salt are 1 teaspoon per gallon and can be upped to 3 in extreme cases but if you want to use less, I dont think that will be a problem. Just dont use the aquarium salt for more then 10-14 days because it can cause internal damage and will be come less effective if constantly used.

Also be careful with the "fix" meds. As mentioned already they can damage their breathing organ. Maybe use a tad less then the recommended dose?

I cant tell from the pics but are you saying his fins are loosing color, like the color is becoming duller OR is it the damaged area of the fin that is clear? If so, that's most likely new growth.

Also-you may want to up the water changes to 2 a week. one 50% and one 100%.
