HELP!!! i purchased a crowntail betta last week. he is in a 3.5 gallon tank with a heater, tank is kept at 74 degrees constantly. the water is treated with aqueon betta water renewal. i have some fake plants, a betta hammock and a cave for him to hide in.
he seems more active than he was in the store, however i have not seen him eat for this entire week that ive owned him. i purchased aqueon betta pellets. but once he didnt go for those, ive tried betta bites and even freeze dried bloodworms. he wont go for anything. once or twice ive seen him get the pellets and then spit them back out. ive tried softening them, breaking them up smaller and out of desperation, i left them in the tank but did a full water change.
his gills do appear to be a little red and irriated. i attriubute this to the small cup he was living in at the pet store.
any suggestions? i have heard live plants can help?
