HELP.....

i have a crown tail betta fish, he is alone in a about a one gallon "wine glass" fish bowl. Mr. Betta's tail where it is crowned is falling off....it looks as if he has been fighting with other fish but that is impossible because there are not anymore fish in the house....
IS THIS NORMAL? Please help.

Firstly, could you answer a few questions which will help in finding a solution.

How long have you had the betta in the bowl for?
How often do you perform water changes, and what percentage of the water do you change?
Does the bowl have a heater, and what temperature is the water?
What and how often do you feed him?

There are no other fish in the house? Are you sure?! It is possible if there are other fish in the house they could be fighting when you're not around.


Answering Kate's questions will help us find the solution to the problem. :)

---I got him two weeks ago so he has been in the bowl for two weeks

---i change it once a week on the exact same day and time..
Does the bowl have a heater, and what temperature is the water?
---No the bowl dose not have a heater but the aprt. stays in between the
temperature of 74 to 79 degrees
What and how often do you feed him?
--- I feed him in the morning and at night (about every twelve hours) he
was not eating the betta food i bout him first, so i got him a different kind
that he has been eating

And yes i am completely sure that there is no other fish in the house.... trust my i know what animals i have in my house.

I had the same problem but because I was doing 100% water changes. If you're doing the same thing, here's the link to the advice I was given.
