Betta with injury/indentation on head

Ah sorry for horrible picture quality. I wish it was better but hes so energetic

I came back from my break ( a total of four days with someone feeding my babies of course) And my little Nero has, what looks like a white dent/nibble out of the top of his head/spine area.

• Ten gallon divided Tank
• Temp at 78 degrees
• Activity and eating is normal
• Had been stressed I was gone (didn't know bettas had separation anxiety when their favorite feeders left but he did...)
• Filtered tank as well

None of the plants/decor is sharp and there haven't been any injuries before this with him. Hes been with us about a month and a half. Was wondering if this was an injury of some sort or if it was something else. Im pretty sure he just bumped something the wrong way but it doesn't look very comfortable.

He looks like he bumped into something, like you had said.
I suggesting giving him Betta Fix or Melafix just to be on the
safe side.

I went to the lfs and found they were out of both of those =0= I have no idea how. All I have right now is some AQ salt. Im not fond of it but his wound actually got a little bigger on top wise (I believe this is the natural healing cycle? but Im unsure) I am concerned because his fin has a little tiny half circle of brown.

Should I put a dab of AQ salt in the tank??
Also I dont have my QT tank...Its being held captive by a female betta downstairs >>

So should I just let it go for a bit longer and watch for improvements or should I add a tad of AQ?

I'm not really a fan of Betta Fix or Melafix. You could try the AQ salt and just keep his tank conditions clean. 1tsp/AQ salt per gallon. Dissolve before use. Do not use longer than 10 days.
