Cleaning Accessories

One of my students brought in a nice little plant and a bridge for our school aquarium. His family had koi fish over a year ago that were sick and died. What should I do to make sure these accessories are ok before using them.... or aret hey ok because of the amount of time that has passsed. Thanks!

First, make sure that the paint or plastic is not coming off. If it looks durable then rinse and scrub it really well in hot water. Do not use any soap.

I'd give them a rinse with hot water and a mild vinegar solution... actually I missed the sick part. Definitely rinse with either a vinegar solution and scrub them well, or a very mild bleach solution. Don't want to have any cross contamination.

You can use a 1:9 bleach:water solution. Being 1 part bleach to 9 parts water. and just rinse it really, really well. will kill ALL bacteria on them

I do a bleach solution and I rinse very well. Kills everything and makes them as good as new.
