Feeding Live Worms?

The area where I live has been inundated with these tiny inch worms - caterpillars actually - hanging from the trees. They are really thin and usually less than an inch long. Would it be safe to feed one - or part of one if I can stomach cutting one up - to my betta? I live on a large lot and generally don't use any chemicals in my yard.

I dont honestly know that it would be a problem. But i dont recommend it. Reasoning why is because live worms, especially ones in the wild (not cultured), have tendencies to carry diseases that will make your betta sick.
