What would you do with ur fish if u lost power?

We lost power for a few minutes yesterday and it made me wonder.. when i only had bettas it was fine, but tetras it can be worse- especially if we lost power in the winter.

I know if i only could plug in a few things, what order I would do them in. filter, then heater, then pogs heater then uv sanitizer if I can

Good question. How long does an outage usually last? Where I live we almost never get them, but where I used to live a good storm could put them out for 24 hours or more.

For 24 hours I think the fish would be fine, except for the temp in winter. Not sure how to keep a tank warm without power?

I would plug in the heater first for sure.

As far as if nothing was working, I'd cover the tank with a blanket to keep the heat in and pray the outage didn't last long.

For a small outage, nothing.
Larger outage? Well larger tanks keep heat better, you coould float the betta in a plastic container in your larger tank, be sure the lid is well covered to not let heat escape. I'd probably put the part of the filter with the bacteria directly in the tank. I wouldnt worry about heat, if it got desperate I'd double bag some warm (not hot) water and float it in the tank.

where would you get the warm water?

I guess if I lived in an outage prone area I would invest in a small generator.

Ah, that's right. The hot water heater would be out, wouldn't it? You could always warm some over a campfire, LOL.
