question about 50% water change

this may seem like a dumb question, but I'm still fairly new to bettas. When doing a 50% water change, can I just leave my little guy in there and siphon out 50% of the water? Then add back the water and conditioner? Any help would be greatly appreciated

Yea, siphon it out.. Put the new water in a bucket and condition it while in the bucket. Try to get the water room temp and add it back in slowly. Or cup your guy, add in all the water, wait for it to heat, and acclimate him again.

Olympia is right, you can leave him in the tank. Do be gentle when adding the new water so you don't disturb him too much. I use airline tubbing to add the new water in slowly.
