Tumor?!

For the last week my Zuko has aquired a growth under his dorsal fin! It gets bigger everyday. Is there anything I can do for him?

He is in a 10g planted tank with some trumpet snails. Eating fine. Active. He even made a bubble nest just yesterday.

I will put before and after pictures. They are not the best quality because they are from my phone...

Really hard to tell much by the pic.....are you talking about the blue color area around the dorsal fin base......if so, if it is raised it could be a type of melanomas or pigment cell tumor....not a lot can be done except to prevent a secondary infection-often they will split and open up-oozing and its important to keep the water really clean.....

If the blue area is flat-then it may be normal pigment change....

If it is a white/cream colored growth it could be lymphocystis-no treatment for this virus-

Neither are usually fatal unless the growth impedes with swimming, eating...etc....

He's always had the blue color but the mass is about .5cm in diameter. I wish I had better pictures. The first two he is normal and the last three are of his tumor. I do fifty% water changes a week now. Should I do more?

In a 10gal filtered/planted tank....50% weekly with light vacuum in all places you can reach without moving anything or disruption of plant roots-should maintain water quality.......

Google lymphocystis pic and see if that is what it looks like......its a virus and no treatment-but it usually isn't fatal either unless it impede on swimming, eating, daily living...etc.....
