Get any of these... fungus clear by Tetra ( formerly jungle labs) or API fungus cure...also bacteria fix or melafix by API...stress coat .....follow instructions carefully on bottle and treat daily or every other day as the case maybe... IN this case..i strongly recommend the bacteria fix and the fungus cure as well as the stress coat and the fish be treated daily followed by partial or even full water changes if possible but partial water changes are necessary....noo worries if you cant get all ..get the fungus cure atleast....since it has the cure for the fungus as well as some stress coat in it which should restore the fish's natural slime faster as well as help regrow torn or damaged fins as well....All the best ..good luck.

anything ending in '-fix', will do more harm than good. something in it can damage the labyrinth organ of bettas, and generally isn't good for them. better to stay away, than to risk it, imo.

Thank you all for the advise!! I could only get the fungus clear, but i havent used it yet. I have been seeing improvement with plain old clean water, so i was watching and waiting, so see if there was a point where i would have to intervene with meds.

After just a few days in nice clean water. :3 Am i crazy, or does he look tons better?

I know it is a little early to tell with his poor health and all, but is he a butterfly copper or... what would his color be called?

Unless that darker grey color on the back of his tail continues to go around the entire fins I would say no to butterfly. It is very faint so idk. I would ask Mr. Vampire.
