Since i have been checking on the walmart bettas care, i have noticed a poor little no too pretty betta sit there after the others are gone and new ones come. I don't think anyone is going to buy him ever. I now have a 1 gallon empty with a heater avaiable.
Should i go get him before he sits forever and then just dies just cuz he is not flashy? He is whitish vt. He is still moving around some, but i'm afraid with the kind of care or non care he will eventually just die.
I'm a hardazz by nature and I would never buy a sick looking fish, but the more I hang around here and see the before and after photos of "rescued" bettas, the more I admire the rescuers.
HOWEVER, if we keep buying the sick ones the stores will just keep selling them......so the answer is go with your gut and heart.
I would try to get him for half off, make up any excuse. If the manager knows he's been there for weeks, say it's better you buy him for half price then no one ever buys him and he just dies and they've lost profit. Whatever you need to say.
If you can get him for a discount, that's great! But if not, I personally would still get him, because I could not handle leaving him there. I'm a softy. ;) But, do whatever you think is right!
Walmart isnt going to stop they sold 18 in the last couple days,,,, i've been counting. ,,,, just thst this one is the least pretty and no one wants him :(
Walmart supposedly gets credit for dead fish, so the whole "your supporting the cycle" theory is invalid.
It's awsome that you got him for free, most people don't seem to have any luck with walmart managers actually listening.
I like to get the sickies, and have seen some pretty awsome transformations. One went from being olive colored and stress striped with a cut off tail fin into one of the prettiest black females with royal blue rays and her fin grew back.
