Is there any harm in putting little mirrors in Dukie's (my betta's name) tank.
It seems to keep him athletic and he looks like he's having fun?

Mirrors are best used on ocassions only. It can be good for a betta now and again, to see themselves if they don't seem stressed, but permanant mirros are likely to stres syour betta severely. Hold a mirror up to him once in a while and if he seems stressed, then take it away. By watching your betta you will be able to see ifyou should try it again on another ocassion etc.

I advise against your plans. Actual mirrors will drive them nuts, this could really stress him out.

Their reflection on the inside of the glass is enough 'company' they need. Even then sometimes they attack it for a while.

dont keep it in there!!! i did that once and my poor guy ripped his own tail apart!!! not a good idea

My betta will look at a mirror for a few minutes, then he just ignors it.

:nods in agreement: That's what I do with the betta we have. He does his little show-offy thing, flaring his face and fins out, doing this fast-swimming thing. I think he enjoys showing off, lms (laugh myself silly)

Question: How do you know if they're stressed? I wouldn't want to have the betta get stressed and me think it was just having a fun time or something totally opposite of what is actually going on.
