I just got a new 5 gallon tank for my betta, Fish. I put him in yesterday and this morning he was belly up (yikes!) however, i put him in his old bowl, with his old water and no filter, and he seemed fine when i got home from work at 4. i put him back into the tank and he swam around for a while and seemed fine. However, an hour and a half later, now he does not seem fine. He stays on the top of the tank and floats. He lays against the filter and does not be able to swim on his own. he doesnt do it often, but when he tries to swim down he ends up floating back up to the top. he seems very lethargic. i dont think it is from amonia because i took the water to the petstore and they said the water was perfect. is this because of the current from the filter? my cories seem fine. I dont understand what is wrong with my beloved Fish, and this is really scary. i need help!

well i just turned the filter off and now he is still floating up and onto his side.
is there such a thing as pH shock? he went from a small bowl with no filter that was cleaned once every 2 weeks to the tank with pristine conditions.
Can you post pictures? He might have Swim Bladder Disease.
Symptoms: Hard time swimming, Can't stay upright, Loss of Buoyancy.
Cause: Constipation, Infection, <--- ( Common Cause )
Treatment: Fast<--- Constipation. Alot of others. Depends on Cause.
thank you! (: and he looks bloated. he has a bit of a lump. he definately looks chubby. the temperature is 78ish. i dont know the exact measurements of the water but today at the petstore the guy said the water was perfect. should i take him out of his new tank or does that have nothing to do with it? everytime he is in the tank this happens, but when he is in his old dirty bowl he seems fine after a while, which makes me put him back in his new, pristine tank where he gets sick again. im so confused!
okay so i turned off the filter, the light, and took everything off. he cheered right up and started swimming again. he was swimming lopsidedly and kept floating back to the top, but it was a major change from before when he was lethargically sitting there. do you think that since he was going from a plain bowl with no filter or anything to a tank its just a shock to him?
