New betta owner here with question

Ok so i've got my very first betta, he is in a 60litre tank he's the one in my display pic, i've tried to do a lot of research but sooo many sites say different things and I guess theyre just sites of peoples opinion. He isn't alone in his tank, I have a plec, rainbow shark, and 4 female swordtails (the swordtails were in his same tank at pet store) I was wondering if you can see my display pic what kind of tail do you think he has? cos i'm not sure of veiltail or combtail I am also worried he could have came with some disease i'm not sure if his tail or anal fin is suppose to be like the way it is and yesterday he seemed to just wrap himself against the heater at the top of the water and stay there for hours (though the last hour or 2 he seems to be riding the filter current and still is lol) and he doesn't seem bothered by his own reflection. Oh he's been in this tank 2 weeks now if thats important info, too and I water change. Sorry for the poor pic, my phone sucks :(

I think he's a veil tail or possibly a delta. Can you get him to flare so we can see his tail better? The hanging around the heater might be due to him being a bit cold. Ky did it when the temp was at 78 so had to turn up to 80. Fin rot is very quick to eat away at the tail/fins. Has it go worse since you've had him? I'm not sure about rainbow sharks too. I'm sure they can be quite aggressive but I've never had one, this is just from what I've heard. Welcome to betta parenthood :)

Wow, first off your tank is extremely overstocked. A Rainbow Shark, probably a common pleco and 4 swordtails?! Holy jeez.

First off the Rainbow Shark and Pleco are too big for your tank, they will outgrow your tank, well not really they're growth will be stunted. :T Rainbow sharks need a minimum of 255 litres, and that's only for ONE shark. As for the common pleco I'm assuming, it'll grow up to 1 ~ 2 feet along, I seriously suggest rehoming those two fish.

The four female swordtails can stay I guess but they grow up to 4.5 inches, that's pretty big considering you have four of them. :T

He may not be "riding the current", Bettas can't withstand strong currents since they're weak swimmers due to their long and heavy finnage. I suggest you baffle your filter if it seems too strong for him. Also what's the temperature of your water? He maybe be sticking to the heater because the water isn't warm enough. . .

The pleco I know about, but my other half wouldnt take no for an answer of getting one =/ I know he's intending on going to a huge tank eventually so I hope its before its sometime this year. Yeah the rainbow shark, I didnt even want one but he come home with it, couldnt really leave it in the bag =/ Temperature is at 26 at this moment (in UK) He's usually pressed against the corner where the thermometer is and wrapping himself around that as well. For the first answer, his tail has gone a bit different, one of the ends has a like a twirl in it. Tried to get him to flare at his reflection but he wont =/ any other method?

Depending on his personality, some will flare when you approach the tank or when you place your finger on the glass. It sounds like he's cold. Try turning the temp up a few degrees. I go by F because it's easier as most betta care websites are US sites. I'm in the UK too.

Can you reduce the flow of your filter?
He probably is still getting used to his new home, he'll come out and see you soon enough.
Order your hubby to get a his large tank asap and to stop taking over your betta tank. :p

Lol I know right! been talking about it and hoping to get it next week! I can't wait, means more fishies to look at :P It turns out it could be finrot, the swordtails have chunks of tails missing and we lost one, the sharks dorsal fin is starting to go too, theyre in treatment now so can only hope.

It is quite possible that the swordtails are nipping each other and the other fish. They can be aggressive little critters.

They seem fine the whole day i'm here (always watching the fish lol) but we're half way through fin rot treatment and there is a lot of improvement in the betta and swordtails. Only thing I noticed was his abdomen was swollen one morning but I think that could quite possibly be because I gave them flake food for the first time because it was back down the next day.
