Question Guppy 10 Gal... Female Betta??

Hello! You all have helped me so much in the past and I have tried to return the favor to a few newbies, but here I am again, begging for some knowledge.

So, heres the deal. I have a filtered/heated 10 gal long currently housing three guppies. (hopefully more tropical community fish soon) I also have a lovely female VT betta who I was so excited to add to this tank.

A few days ago, I decided I should try it out and see if she got along with them. I began to acclimate her and hoped for the best. She didn't flare or even care too much about the guppies outside her bag. Hopeful, I released her. She looked around a bit, swam around, and I jumped for joy. (haha no pun intended the betta's name is Joy.) Then, she started chasing the guppies a bit. They are still new so I felt really bad. She nipped a bit at them, but in the end, only one guppy had a tiny nick in its tail. I felt bad for them because they seemed stressed, (I am new to keeping guppies, so I don't really know their signs of stress or how stressed is too stressed) so I put Joy the betta back in her 3.5.

I really want this to work, so I was wondering...
1. Is this normal behaviour for a female betta being introduced to other fishies for the first time?
2. Is it safe for me to attempt putting her in again? (a few days later)
3. If it works out and she is happy with the guppies, what else can I put in the tank with them?

Thank you in advance!

Ah I'm not an expert, but I put a male guppy in with my female betta, and they did not harm each other, or at least not that I have noticed. Now I'm not completely sure, I have mostly heard neutral answers, but you might get a no from many people.

See since guppies have that same colorful glow, it presents competition to the bettas, and maybe your betta sensed they were females? If they were? That is pretty much all I can say, as my personal experience wasn't bad, but maybe your betta just is more territorial than others.

Thank you! The competition part just seems somewhat strange since she didnt flare at them or really even care till I released her? Do you think its safe for me to try again?

Yea it may not be competition, she just might be a really territorial fish, and doesn't want any other fish in her area. Many betta fish have different personalities and preferences.

I honestly think its fine if you try again, but you must keep a VERY close eye on them to make sure anyone doesn't get hurt. But I don't think she is trying to hurt them if she was just nipping a little at their fins with no major damage.

So just watch for major injury? Is there any way I can get he to chill out a bit? LIke maybe acclimate her for a longer time or something?

Yes thats probably the best option, so she has a longer time span to adjust to them.
