Mystery snail advice?

I've got a 10 gallon with one betta and I want to add in a mystery snail.

Should I stick with the idea of a mystery snail? would an apple snail also be okay?

If anyone has snail food recipes or a preferred snail seller online could i get links?

Amazon has some sellers and so does ebay but I'd like recommendations.

Thanks in advance

Or a Nerite Snail?

My Snails eat any food my Betta and Loaches don't eat.

my issue with nerites is that they're on the smaller side and i get really anxious when i can't see one of my fish. (Oliver isn't much of a hider so I don't deal with that with him too often).

A larger one like a mystery snail or apple snail would be easier to keep an eye on and less of me freaking out and wondering where they are.

I have mystery snails my self. Just giving you options, I used to have 3 that would come to the top of the tank and wait to be fed blood worm.

And as proof.

Snail eating blood worm.

What cuties. In my 10gal i think i could maybe tops (probably reallly pushing it) keep 2, however the fear with 2 of anything is risk of breeding. Even though certain varieties of snail can self breed but that's generally land snails. And generally also not the snails we want as pets.

My biggest decision right now is mystery vs apple and where to buy from.

Apple snails can get really big so maybe the 10 gal isnt the best bet for one, but the larger snail the less i stress when it disappears (And easier to find if it manages to escape)

Petco and Petsmart have mystery snails. If there is one near you, you should call and ask. If you buy online, shipping could cost more than actual snail. Plus, Petsmart (not sure about Petco) has 14 days guarantee.
You can also post a WTB in marketplace section of this forum. Someone might have snails to sell you cheap.

I was recommended Ken's veggie sticks with calcium. If you search "veggie sticks with calcium" on ebay, you can find smaller packages to try. I'm going to buy one myself.

I don't really recommend nerite. They are more delicate and picky eaters -algae only. Currently have a horned nerite and a dozen or so pink ramshorn babies. Ramshorn can get as big as a size of quarter.

Good luck with your snail search

Caution snails found out the mystery

I have two mystery snails and they have done fine in 10 gallon planted tank. I do supplement them with algae thin wafers. They are pretty good size and can be very entertaining. Only problem with is ... well let's just say some things are no longer a mystery lol. I pulled one and put in another tank since too much wrestling going on. I love my nerite snail in 5.5 planted. Very cute but loose him often as very stealth like hiding.

Thanks guys! my mom went to petco today, i told her to ask if they have snails but she did that and bought one. So, I've got a little snail on the way home. I'm definitely excited! She forgot what kind of snail it was but from her description of it being yellow, but only current guess is maybe a golden mystery snail.

I'll find out in about an hour or so!

Also, should I drip acclimate the lil dude or float? I'm probably going to go with drip just to ease the stress of him being in the car on the way home for an hour.
