Compatibility ten gallon slightly aggressive female

My girl Garnet just got her ten gallon tank with it I included a plecostamus. So far she is doing well with him. I was wondering if that was enough or if I could try adding a few more things. I might just wait until upgrading my docile females tanks and giving her a few tank mates.

A 10 gal is not large enough for any species of Pleco. It is going to quickly outgrow the tank, I would take it back to the place you got it from.

You could get some of the smaller species of cory cats like the panda cory, or pigmy corys. They do bet on a sand substrate so that their barbels do not get damaged and they are a shoaling species so you'll need at least 6 of them to keep them feeling secure.

Harlequin Rasboras are also nice, they are schooling fish and you'll need 6 or more of them.

If you are at least a month after cycling, and your tank is heavily planted, then you could try shrimp,

Snails can also make good tank mates, just be aware that most do reproduce but you can control the rate they do so by not feeding them much. If you get nerites they only eat live algae, no algae and they starve to death.

Yeah... I definitely did research a bit late. This is what I get for trusting the lady at the store. She said I could bring it back when it outgrows the tank. I might try to see if any of my friends have a tank for him.

If I can’t find a friend to take him I’ll take him back.

Do not add any tank mates until the tank's cycle has been fully-established for at least a month. And even then, do not add tank mates unless the tank is sufficiently planted to give all species the proper habitat. Can you post a photo of the tank? Thank you.

I really only had gotten the one as a freeby when I bought the tank. If I had known it was going to be such a big issues with its size, I would have turned down the offer.

Also I know the tank still needs work. The plants are fake but they’re soft so they shouldn’t be an issue for her.

I had originally planned on doing live planted unfortunately there weren’t really any plants today. So I went with the soft silk fake ones. I might just leave garnet by herself after I return the other one. No harm in the she likes to be alone and flare up at her reflection.

It's really sad that people can't trust the advice of someone working in aquatics. But they're paid to sell; not to educate.

We have several members who work in pet stores who are, fortunately for their customers, see education as part of their job.
