So i have a long 20 gal and i already have 1 female betta and 2 ADFs that get along well but i want to add 2 more female bettas i tried searching to see if it would work but all i can find is a betta doing well with multiple ADFs vs multiple bettas with a few ADFs
The general consensus is that it is one female Betta in a tank or 5+ to help prevent violence against each other. Tanks with multiple females should also be heavily planted so that lines of sight and chase are broken. Three will usually wind up with two picking on one...sometimes to death.
I had a single female in a 20 long with seven ADF with no issues. I later added three more ADF.
Are there other residents or is it just the Betta and the ADF? Mine had the ADF, female Betta and one shoal each of Neon Tetra, Ember Tetra and Habrosus Cory. You can do much more with a longer tank than you can with a tall.
I have a little school of pencil fish with my male betta, they are tiny and pretty peaceful. Bob has grown up with them, so far they all get along really well. I would imagine they'd work well with females.
