They're both very cute! I don't know if there's a specific name for Elrond's coloring, but he might be a marble?
hah! Then my job is done ;) I was thinking he could be a cello base with marbling. He's pretty weird, but I'm also not an expert on pattern names. Boo.

That's a good question, and to be totally transparent it was because it did start to be a chore instead of a time to relax when we had to change tanks. There was also this odd effect where we would change *so* many tanks we'd miss changes because we felt like we'd JUST done it. Pair that with the stress of owning our own businesses, a very hard mental health year last year, and lack of really knowing what day of the week it is (a side effect of being self-employed), it was just a lot. And we did have 8 tanks, with three fish that we suspect we lost to cancer, so we just totally overwhelmed ourselves.
Not overwhelming yourself is something I think is far more important than most people consider, but this is a good lesson. When your favorite hobby gets *oppressive* it's time to cut back.
Can you get close up pictures. I can't zoom in. Atm, the female looks opaque white-ish . . . Rear end looks to be tainted with irid (not clear) - which might make her fit the grizzle color group. The male looks cellophane
I've not got current control of the camera (darn people for wanting to use the 12 megapixel machine!!) but I'll try to get a better pic later today.
I do believe you're 100% right on the cellophane for Elrond. I wasn't sure if the black eyes, beard, and lipstick I wouldn't have wondered at all LOL And the black vertical stripe on the tail. He'd only just been in that tank for about 24 hours when we took that pic so he was a bit pale overall. I might take new pics in a week or so once they're all settled in.
For Shirisae fish, i was thinking grizzled, too. She's very white in that picture, probably also because she'd only been in her tank for 24 hours, but today she has that rose-magenta toned color taking over her entire head, and her scales seem to be pearly white with a blue outline to each. Her tail is getting a stripe of rose-magenta near the base and a stripe of blue closer to the edge of the tail. The coolest thing, though, is that her beard seems to be black and magenta-striped, which is adorable.
It will probably be hard to capture in pictures, but I'll try later today.
