What color is this?

Hi all! I am cleaning fish tanks today and was curious what color this Betta is. He was a drab, monotone gray when I got him, and now he shimmers and changes color, depending on the lighting. Reminds me of oil on water. Also, does he look like a rose petal? He wasn’t labeled, but was in another cup in the back if the store (I asked for the sick ones). Thanks!

His color is called copper. Betta Colors & Patterns - BettaSource.com

I'm not sure about the tail type, it'd help if you could get him to flair.

Welcome to the Forum!

What a beautiful boy you found.

The "shimmery," in most cases, is iridescence. Some Betta got it and some Betta don't.

Copper may show different colors depending on light angles. Grey, copper, greenish, purple,-ish, and some say gold-ish due to the shimmer. It doesn't actually change colors like marbles, and is one of my favorite colors.

Your boy doesn't really look like a rose, but I can't be sure without side view flaring picture. Unfortunately he seems to have a few curls/folds on caudal - probably due to previous health issues.

BTW, welcome to the forum.

Thank you!

Thank you, everyone, for your input. I will try and get a pic of him flaring. He has been a docile fish. When I first got him, he was very sickly and a plain gray color. He has improved over the last couple months and this is him now. I finally got around to asking about his color. Thanks so much!!
