New betta Mom, any insight on my new baby?

So I never thought Id be this obsessed...I purchased a baby boy betta, pelco, and mystery snail about a month ago. (Austin powers(baby betta) dr. Evil.(pelco) And mr. Bigglesworth(snail)) Austin is by far my favorite.... He is just so sweet and gets excited when he sees me, it sounds so silly but I swear he does! He has me hooked and hes growing so beautifully I am just chomping at the bit to see what he will grow into and curious if any one has any clue!!

Welcome to the Forum!

Not sure what Austin Powers might be. Whatever color he turns out (and they do change) he is definitely going to be striking.

Do you know what type of Pleco? If it is one of the smaller ones unless the tank is a minimum of 24" long the Pleco will outgrow it pretty quickly. So start searching for a bigger tank for your crew.

Pleco love to hide. Caves for them are a must. They are mostly nocturnal but you can often see them if you simply turn the lights off during the day.

Pleco also need some sort of wood to rasp on. Check with your pet store to see what they have but most driftwood will do. File any rough edges so Austin Powers' fins won't snag and tear.

Had a German Shorthaired Pointer, Hannah, who became obsessed with the Plecos in my 55 and both 29 gallon tanks. When she first discovered them there was a downside as she was constantly going from one tank to the other; she even lost weight. But after a bit she slowed down and when we would see one stuck to the side all we had to say was, "Hannah! Where's your fish?" and she would jump off the couch go from one tank to the other until she found the one with the Pleco on the glass. And, interestingly, all she did was stare.

A friend had a fish store with an indoor Koi pond. Hannah thought she'd died and gone to Heaven! While she just stared at the Plecos, she was as intensely pointed on the Koi as she was on grouse.

I am so regretful we never took photos of our "Fish Dog". Don't have enough of my old friend.

Welcome to the Forum. He is a very beautiful boy. As Russell has said your Pleco will hide in may places and will need some driftwood to rasp on. I made the mistake a long time ago of not doing my homework on the different Pleco and chose one that I thought was pretty and would make a good tank mate in my community tank. It was a 29 gallon and the Pleco was only about 2 inches long. He found a clay pot I had in the tank as a hide and he took over that pot. with in the first year he needed a new tank (let alone a new Pot.) He grew to 6 inches. So I bought another 55 gallon tank and put him in along with some cichlids. it was great for another year until one day I noticed this giant blob hanging on the back side of the tank. The Pleco had grown to a little over a foot. Well yes I bought a new tank a 75 gallon and started a new with his new home I sold him back to a pet store near home when he was 24 inches. I've never had a Pleco since.
