I'm not sure if this counts as a rant but I'm tired of my sister. She is not officially diagnosed with depression but I'm sure she could if she could get diagnosed. She also has anger issues. And I'm tired of walking on eggshells around her or that I'm expected to be more empathetic because of her possible state but I'm not given the same ... how do I say... treatment from her and from others?

I'm wondering if I'm "allowed" to be fed up with her or do I keep having to grind my teeth together and just take her outbursts. I feel conned when I give her sympathy and understanding when she turns around and completely antagonizes me. If she were my friend, I'd avoid her at all costs for my own sanity. But she's my sister and we live in the same house.

Today, she sent me a text saying she's broke and that she can't buy me lunch anymore. She bought me lunch maybe a handful of times. I buy her a lot of stuff because I know she's broke. So I got a little offended and asked her what's the meaning of her text? And she got mad at me for getting mad at her/misinterpreting her text. And long story short, she started screaming bloody murder at me in the car and thrashing around to a point where I thought I might need to call the police. When we got home, she slammed her fists on the hood of my car and locked me outside of the house (I didn't have my keys). Good thing my grandma was home to open the door.

I'm not sure what to do. I am at fault in many areas (like getting annoyed at her for insignificant things and yelling at her as well) but I'm ALWAYS trying not to do those things. I'm not sure if I'm supposed to just excuse her behaviour and say "well, she is not well". I can't stand it. My patience has thinned drastically these past few months and now others are noticing too.

Been having rotten luck up until about a week ago with the fish. Just got an order of plants in the other day and the ludwigia was super rotten and weird looking, sent a message to the seller and he asked if I wanted a refund or a second batch. I opted for the second batch because I really need the plants, and want them to work. He sent me this long winded email back about how I should know the shipping process is rough on plants and they don't arrive looking like the picture. Considering they were supposed to be red/green, and it showed up black and dying; I'm aware. When they don't even have the same leaf structure as the picture because they were grown in sub-par conditions and are rotting, I'm pretty sure I can comment about how they don't look right.

Don't even get me started on job searching, even with a college degree it seems impossible to get an entry level job in my field without people wanting 5+ years of experience. So let me get this straight, you want me to get a college degree and then 5 years relevant experience in the field before I can join the field in an entry level position. :/

I got offered a job at my local Petco because the person assisting me with getting a new nerite was so impressed I knew the difference between male and female platys. Is that all it really takes?!?!?! They have apparently been without an aquatics person for quite a while (and you can tell from the state of the section). Besides the fact they only hire part time so they don't have to pay for benefits, I would end up with 5.2 million fish I wanted to "save". I've got enough now.

Speaking of PetCo, I went there Friday, they had full shelves and 100% healthy fish. They get new shipments on Saturdays. So, I asked a guy I know very well that works there where they were going to put them, and he replied "I don't know." I went there Saturday, and what did I find? Near-empty shelves with 5 or 6 dead fish. Where the heck was the new shipment? Where did all the bettas go?!? I had my eye on an Orange Butterfly, he wasn't there. Neither was the Cellophane Marble Half-Giant, pale blue VT girl, almost-perfect MG DTPK, or that cute little baby girl with SBD. I asked where the new shipment was, from multiple employees. They said it was on the shelves, but I recognized the 3 living fish there; the Black orchid CT boy, the almost dead VT girl with Columnaris, and the Turquoise VT baby who, for the life of me, I couldn't tell what gender s/he was.

*sigh*

No, because I heard the guy complaining they wouldn't have space for the new shipment; that was Friday, like an hour before they closed.

... Okay, let's be honest. Who would buy 100+ bettas, ranging $2.99 to $25.99 for a craft project? I guess I'm just making excuses.

Our dog Clio's barking continues to drive me insane.

She is one of those dogs that has to bark at everything. Not only that, but she will bark at you if she feels you are being too slow, too boring, or simply 'unfair'. She also uses barking to get attention, even though this is one area she is not lacking.

As an example of her barking. We are sitting in the lounge room watching television. The back door is open, so Clio can come and go as she pleases. She goes outside simply so that she can bark at us through the side window.

I did teach her the 'quiet' command, but you can literally see her struggling to contain herself. It's like it's simply impossible for her to not make some sort of noise.

I'm particularly sensitive to certain sounds, dog barking being one of them, and I'm constantly worrying someone will complain about her barking, even though I never let her bark for longer than a minute or two. Worse still, her barking sets off the other dogs so then I have four dogs to quieten down instead of one.

At this point we are seriously considering just purchasing an e-collar to really reinforce the quiet command . I don't like those bark collars that just spray a dog in the face or shock them, without there being a human to give some kind of context.

I'm the opposite. I don't want a dog to associate a human with such a correction. When that happens they will be quiet if you're around but not so much when you're gone. I've had great success independent bark/shock collars. Also don't like those that spray stuff in their face.

Some dogs bark to release tension or boredome as much to alert an owner to something. I've found most of those dogs are extremely smart. Have you tried any of those interactive "brain" games. I had several clients who said they stopped whatever behavior that needed to be controlled.
