I've just always had a fear of aquatic plants.... usually on a larger scale, like lake grass and seaweed, but I very specifically chose live plants to try and fight that fear. Any time I have to reach into my tank and a leaf brushes up against me, my heart skips a beat then starts going haywire. Dunno what it is.... but that's just what it is. lol

I see, that makes sense now. :3

You just reminded me of a scary experience... Swimming in a mild storm between 2 islands, a few years back. It was't too far, must've been 15 meters or so, but the scary bit was the thick and tangly seaweed wrapping around my ankles. I kept imagining unfriendly merfolk with every kick!

Once I caught my breath on the shore, I gathered up as much seaweed as I could, and promptly made a muumuu & wig for myself. Essentially BECOMING that feared imaginary creature. Worked wonders for my heart rate.

I'm not saying you should do the same, but... you never know. ;p At least an elodea necklace?

lol... Nope. No way. It's the FEEL of them that I hate the most.....

It's hard to even get me close to water that might have plants growing in it without a panic attack lol

Also I'm a huge klutz, I got a call from the YMCA I live by for an interview on Thursday. I filled out the online application yesterday. They called me as I was going down the stairs with my glass of water witch startled me making me slip and fall on the stairs dumping water all over the stairs. The stairs were carpet and gave me two rug burns and damaged my cellphone case. It use to be water proof, not anymore ( it damaged the rubber part).

Depression is just like a broken bone, they both need medical attention and it's nothing to be ashamed of. Try to write at least ten healthy and positive things that are going on in your life. You will be amazed by how effective this is.

Definitely avoid Salvinia Minima... every time I have to put my hand in the tank I come away with clumps of them stuck to my arm, their little roots all tickly and clinging O_o

Salvinia minimia is nothing compared to duckweed and riccia, that stuff really CLINGS to your hands/arms.

Yeah. there will be NO free floating singular leaf type plants in my tanks lol.

I'm doing well with that I have now... I'm able to kinda "face my fear"... but its on such a small scale that I only get small hyperventilation moments lol.

Taking out dead leaves or stalks tho? That part is still hard for me lol
