Enjoying some free time and have been taking advantage by hiking somewhere new everyday. Nice to get away from humanity for awhile now that it's finally cooling down.

Also, saw a Russian bear in the woods by the house: pic below. Raided the house though and ate everything.

Looks very much like an animal that could easily eat you out of house and home.

My wife has kept me busy with outside busy work. Raking leaves and mowing the lawn for hopefully the last time before the fall weather gets here. Making sure Cal and the horde are doing well. The tank finally cycled and the parameters are spot on. Because its a 10 gallon and overstocked I really do keep an eye on the testing. But other than that we sit out on the porch and our 86 year old neighbor comes over and sits with us each day. We get filled in on everything that is going on in the neighbor hood. We're finding life is taking a slow turn for us and getting very laid back.

Life is crazy. I don't have time to look up but thankfully I have my pal Takoda to keep me from going insane.

One of the geckos laid eggs.

Plants are going well even if I forget to water sometimes.
Also got some fall decorations. Not much but something.

also been learning how to make candy.

Aww Takoda getting big!

And sounds like a very nice life OldDog.

My brand new car is gone. First ever new car, less than 3k miles on it, just made the first payment on it. Totaled. Ka-blewie. Someone ran a red light and t-boned me. Had my kid in the car, thank God he wasn't hurt. The person who hit me drove their car away. Turns out full coverage & collision doesn't cover a rental unless you specifically asked for that option at sign up. Had to bum a ride home from friends. Feeling pretty sore, but could've been worse. PSA, don't lean against your door when you drive. Doors hurt, side airbags hurt, and insurance companies are greedy bums. But EMT's are awesome!

Had a pretty good time before that, and met a cool lady who photographed lots of great musicians like Johnny Cash and The Allman Brothers.

I'm glad you and your son are ok! Traffic accidents are never fun and can be quite deadly. Luckily so far I've never been in one with another can. I flipped a can once but that was my fault for reaching into the floorboard while driving. (Don't do that)

Thank you. I'd never been in a collision before, either. Had a few mishaps as a teen. Never anything too bad and no other cars involved. The girl who hit me admitted fault, so I'm glad I don't have to deal with that mess.
Had a hard time telling the cop what happened, all I could say was that it was loud. Was facing the opposite direction I'd been going and no memory of ending up that way. May have screamed like a little girl, not my proudest moment. That I remember. The EMT's went way beyond their duty and were helping with the rude insurance lady and hanging out making sure we weren't gonna drop dead after the adrenaline wore off. They even played a game of Pokemon with my kid. Best people ever.

Thank God Your both alright. First responders are awesome people. They have the training to serve and the compassion of saints. I know all too well that when things like this happen someone needs to be there to help not only for the injuries but also the mental shock you go through. They see the worst that life hands us and they try their very best to go above and beyond the call. They have a love of humanity and that's sometimes the only thing that they can give for a family that has lost everything.

Unfortunately insurance companies are just that ( all about taking your money and keeping it ) Yes you need to tell them what you want and be ready to pay for it. It stinks for sure. Did the other person have insurance? If so you could get the cost of a rental out of the settlement. Just don't settle on your own Get a Lawyer. have the other persons insurance pay for that and your losses.

Be well and know we here on the forum want to keep all of our members safe and secure.

I am so sorry to hear about the car accident. Glad you and your child are both safe. The car is replaceable but you two certainly are not. I hope the insurance company works everything out quick so you can get back to your normal life and hopefully find a new car you like just as much as your previous one. I will be sending lots of good juju your way!

@Darcy 17 Very belatedly...OMG sorry you totalled your new car but glad both of you are OK. That must have been soooooooo scary. And what @Old Dog 59 said about insurance companies (yeah they suck).

You met a lady photog who took pics of the Allman Bros etc? That's way cool.

Do you like to Zydeco by chance? Terrence Simeon, etc. Stay safe ya hear?!
