Vinegar Eel Starter Cultures
$8 INCLUDES shipping. Good for very small fry, such as bettas, who aren't big enough to consume baby brine shrimp. VERY easy to raise vinegar eels - even a novice can do it easily. Just mix ROUGHLY one part water to one part apple cider vinegar. Add a single slice of apple, and leave in a warm dark place. Within 30 days you should have enough to feed several spawns. Leave it alone for several months, and you'll probably be overrun with them. They don't leave the solution, and you can use a simple coffee filter over the jar to keep gnats and flies out.
To harvest them, use a narrow-neck bottle such as a beer bottle. Put filter floss or a cotton ball in the bottom of the neck, and pour clean water on top of the floss. Wait 24 hours for the vinegar eels to make their way through the filter floss, and either pour them out, or draw them out with a turkey baster!
