Smile Hello :3

I finally decided to say hello!

I'm Tiffany and I live up in the no wheres of northern Ontario. Not much up here but lakes, forests and mountains. And that's whats great about it. Currently its just me and mom here, but I have been considering moving to the US to live with my boyfriend. Time will tell if it comes to be.

I've had many animals throughout my life. Chickens, Turkeys, Pigs, Dogs, Cats, Budgies, Goldfish, Betta, and a Newt. I've also raised Robins and Woodpeckers. We have trouble turning away a life in need despite the strain it puts on our ever more limited budget.

Currently we have four cats (Annie, Monster, Pudge, Chewy), two dogs (Satin, Bowen), and one betta. At the start of this year we lost our other two beautiful dogs; Silver, nearly 14, and Sassy, 8. It was a hard loss and I have many regrets. But they gave us two beautiful pups, and kept us going through the tough times.

As for my betta (who still needs a name), I was suddenly thrust back into the world of owning a betta, with no time to prepare, by a friend who thought he'd make a great gift for my 20th birthday.

It's been a long time since I had a betta and in my previous experience I had fallen for the many myths, lies, and marketing schemes. I did ok for not knowing or doing half the things I should have and he only died when my mother poured out half his water and added warm tap water because she thought he was cold. Poor Sony.. he was a pretty boy. This time I'm trying my best with what I can afford and what is available to me.

Anyways my new betta is a blue/black crowntail and almost a polar opposite to my first betta, Sony. Sony was a gorgeous red with white on his face (almost the same as the forum's picture of the red betta) and neon purple highlights in his fins. Uber lively and curious of everything, would jump for bloodworms and generally a ball of fun. This one is more cautious and somewhat flighty.

(Attacking the light on his new heater x3 )

I must say I was a bit bitter at first with my unexpected pet. I had been slowly planning and gathering info on bettas to eventually get all I wanted and needed before bringing one home. I was looking forward to finding the "perfect" betta. But that's life I guess. I should be used to having a wrench thrown in my plans by now xD

Well I'm not sure what else to say here. I'm almost always open to talking about pretty much everything, so feel free to talk to me :)

Thanks :)

He's doing much better lately and I need to start resetting up the 5g tank. He's was moved into a 1g tank after a spell of velvet only 2 days after I got him (easier to do full water changes in) and had me really worried for a while cause he was being rather lethargic. People said he was likely resting and gathering his strength. Seeing as he's *very* energetic, they were obviously right.

He's a bit bloaty looking still (has been since I got him) and I'm kinda wonder what to do. He's pooping and don't feed him much to start with (only like 2 pellets broken down into smaller pieces. Silly finicky fish) so not sure what all I can do.
