Hi, I'm Shinku!
I decided to join this forum after recently getting a betta, we used to keep them when I was little, we had a 10g that housed a cute little tropical community, bettas sometimes included :)
I've always loved these little fish and finally decided to get one of my own. A cute little blue and red crowntail. Sadly, he's living in some pretty crappy conditions now due to my ignorance. A tiny, unfiltered .5 gallon thing. Ever since I found out how horrible that was, I've been doing daily water changes to help. I've decided to name him Trooper, because of all the bad conditions he's lived in since getting him haha.
Don't worry though, in a few days I'm going to go buy and set up a nice filtered and heated 5 gallon for my little guy, and have researched so much. I learned about the nitrogen cycle, the fact that bettas need heaters, cheap flake food is bad, all that!
I hope y'all don't mind putting up with another inexperienced newbie. I really want to get into the wonderful hobby of fish keeping and thought that this was a great way to start!
