Meet Zetta & our family..

Hi! I used to have a Betta in '01-02 that I adored. I was so heartbroken I took a break. I was going to wait until my kids were older for when we would get a fish.

We 1 8yr old, set of 5 yr old triplets and dalmatian lab dog.

My triplets had a birthday party. My friend messaged me but I missed her messages that when she sent her husband for a present for the kids he and her son picked out a fish. My son put his hand in to say hello. I told her it was ok we would keep him and take care of it. I got out our old stuff and washed it.

Zetta got his name though us asking our kids what they were going to name him and put it in hat . He almost was named bubbles, ribbons and my oldest wanted to name him Speedseter (how quickly he moved to get away from my younger son) and finally Zetta because that is how he says Bettas.

He didn't make it and I replaced him with another, then another. I was going into the pet store almost daily to test water only to find out it was stress. I didn't realize that Petco is hit or miss for survival of the Bettas. I kept coming here and lurking and reading more threads.

He is now in a heated , gallon tank away from where little hands can get him . I do not use a filter but use the turkey baster for fish and we have large rocks. Then partially switch water. The stress coat and Quick helped this little guy alot. He loves his plants and leaf hammock alot. I haven't found a hidey hole that is not rough.

I still have a couple questions about feeding since the guy at Petco, the directions on the pellets and the bloodworms I bought for a treat all says something different. I will be posting in that forum soon. :)

3 of my 4 have health issues so I am looking to write basic instructions for my husband or other caregiver for if one of my kids has a hospital stay.

I know it is my kids pet but I forgot how wonderful Bettas were to have around. Anyway here is Zetta.

Nice to meet you all! :)

Welcome! I'm new here as well. I have had a few Bettas in the past, but it's been several years. We are prepping our tank right now, and I'm hope to bring in our new little friend later this week.

Triplets! How exciting. I have four children ages 10, 7, 4, and 1. We also have a lab mix who is about a year and a half and two goldfish. :)
