Ebola hunter now Betta Keeper
Hello everyone! I am grateful to find this site. I am a busy infection preventionist having just received my practice doctorate and head up the main Ebola treatment facility in Chicago.
My husband thought that getting me a Betta would be a nice touch--to keep me company at the office. He did not realize that because of what I do, fishtanks and other potentially mold/aerosolizing factors are "verboten."
So my sweet little "AlphaBetta" or "Fishbert" as I like to call him, is now a family member residing at home. I also could not subscribe to the tiny-bowl philosophy, so he found himself in a nice upgraded 5 gallon tank with integrated heater and LED lighting, gravel, live plants and a flow-modulated filter.
I never knew what personalities these fish could have! Mine is truley a social little guy who recognizes me. I think it is because I wear big, black nerd glasses, so he sees my big round eyes coming towards the tank and knows it's "mom," LOL.
I loaded pictures of him into an album here, but don't know how to post in a posting section. I wanted to get feedback about what health everyone thinks he is in, explain some of his features to me, etc. He seems very healthy to me for being rescued from PetSmart. He is a rosetail male, which from the boards seems not a very desireable fish? I like his shape and how active he is, although I do see the beauty in the other types of tails and colors.
Any teaching would be appreciated!
