My Introduction

Hi,

I haven't formally introduced myself, but seeing as I have been coming here and browsing the forums every day for the last three weeks, I would say it is about time that I share.

My SN is Jayde, but obviously that isn't my real name. I am female, 30. I live in the US, in Utah, (No. I'm not Mormon lol) and I have been married for almost 8 years. My husband and I have no kids, but we do have a cat and two dogs at home.

My betta fish is named Kirito, but I very rarely call him that. Mostly he just gets a "Hi Fish" or a "Hi Mr. Fish!". I also call him Sweet boy, pretty boy, and naughty fish. He's not picky what I call him, as long as I talk to him lol. Mr. Fish is my office pet. I work in a records room and my boss was nice enough to let me keep a fish at my desk (he has a 3.5 gal tank) as long as I care for him on my breaks or on my lunch.

I am currently in school and I work full-time. It took me 6 years to get my associate's due to a disastrous working schedule while I was in retail (11am - 7pm makes it KIND OF hard to take more than 1 class a semester. . . ). I am now finishing up my two years of Japanese and then I am transferring to Oregon State to get an online bachelor's degree in fish & wildlife services.

よろしくおねがいします。

Hi JaydeDancer, and welcome. Sounds like you are really busy. Are you taking Japanese for personal reasons or is it something you need for your ultimate goal in Fish and Wildlife?

A bit of both. In order to enroll in OSU I had to take and pass two years of a foreign language. I took Japanese in HS, but failed the second semester, so I had to start over again.

I initially took it in HS because I wanted to be able to read it and translate the language. That is still the goal, but I don't know how far I'll be able to get in it since I won't be able to take the more advanced classes that my college offers.

Learning another language can be hard. I think Asian languages are among the more difficult ones to learn.

My daughter in law (to be) has been learning a little bit Chinese. She works with fish at her university. The focus is the effects of hormones and medications that have found their way into our water. Now and then she needs to travel to different countries, especially China, to meet with other groups working on the same issue.

Good luck with your studies :)
