Back to Betta Keeping

I am excited to introduce myself and my new betta, Orbit. I believe he is cellophane, although he has a few dark blue streaks (depending on lighting) that make me question whether he is marble. I've been reading about breeding/genetics in order to learn more. I have no intent to breed, I just like learning!

Orbit is currently living in a 4 gallon long heated tank with a filter diffused with a sponge. He enjoys his piece of driftwood and live plants. He is very inquisitive and brave. 😍

I'm excited to be back into betta keeping. There are many more varieties available than when I last had one about 15 years ago!

My spouse is an aquarist with a 65 gallon saltwater reeftank! He has 5 fish, a "cleanup crew", and too many corals to count. In contrast, I love the simplicity of Orbit's setup. I'm enjoying having a tank of my own. ☺️

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. ☺️ I also think Orbit is beautiful. He is my pride and joy. I initially sought a more colourful/flashy betta, but after seeing Orbit, I just couldn't stop thinking about him! He looks quite plain when he is in the shadows, but his iridescence is magical when he swims through the light. I'll try to upload more pictures (including a less shimmery one), but the size compression really impacts the clarity so my pictures appear to be out of focus! 😫
