Hello quick question!
Do amano shrimp feed on indian almond leaves? What can i supplement their diet with that will not foul the water too much?

Aquarium
Amano shrimps are a big plus in tank cleaning chores because they are constantly searching for food and eat almost any type of algae (except green spot algae and blue green algae), fish food leftovers and decaying plant matter. I am not sure about the indian almond leaves but there is a big chance they'll consume its decaying leaves, anyway I would not worry about any diet supplementing.

Welcome to the Forum!

From the research I've done it seems shrimp do not actually eat IAL; instead, they feed off the biofilm and microorganisms that breed on the decaying leaves. Some shrimpers keep them in tanks especially for baby shrimp.

As said above, they will not eat the leaves, but they sure do love them! I add a new IAL to my 5 gallon every 2-4 weeks and new alder cones once a month for my shrimp. Cholla wood is also great (so long as there are no openings big enough for your fish to get INSIDE it) for helping protect fry and for growing biofilm.
