Fish aggression

If a fish is chasing another fish around by not causing physical damage should it still be removed? This isn't about bettas spefically (if the post needed to be moved I understand), it is in regards to some thick-lipped gourami I have. I lost one this week and she didn't appear to have any physical issue leading me to believe she was not killed by the other fish but she didn't show any other signs of illness either. The largest gourami does chase other fish around and I wonder if maybe she was just too stressed by that...I'm trying to figure out if I should separate or not. They were supposed to be all females and from other opinions it appears they are. They are also supposed to be able to co-exist peacefully. Not sure what I should do...This is why I prefer the solitary better!

ooh i love gouramis! they can be aggressive if
a) tank is too crowded
b) tank is too small

Genetic predispositions to territorial aggression is something as well.

Ive noticed that the biggest gourami likes to bully the other fish, i would give them more places to hide (caves, plants, etc) and think about getting a larger tank or seperating if it doesnt get better.

Thanks for replying! Well she started to bully the other gourami very aggressively tonight so I divided the tank. In the start I had 3 in a 15 gallon...I had a huge log a small cave and some plants thought they would coexist but guess not!
