Freshwater Flounders

I'm a ways off from being ready for them, but I'm looking to make another brackish set up and know for certain I at least want to stock it with freshwater flounders and bumblebees. I kept them years ago and adored them.

The only problem I've come across is finding a source for the flounders. I'm looking for the variety that maxes out at about 2 inches. Everywhere I've looked either used to stock them and doesn't anymore, or it's a large variety, or they don't know what I'm talking about all. I found one seller on eBay, but it will cost $200 total from one state over with shipping for the minimum I want, which is four. The fish are only selling for $10 a piece.

If anybody knows of a source that has or could get them without murdering my wallet, I would much appreciate! Trying to get my ducks all in a row for my future tank 🙂

The only problem you might find also is that they are not always available when you want them. You may want to get the tank and all the accessories before looking for the fish. I think a total of $200.00 for 4 fish is just a rip off. the seller makes his money 2x over. once on the fish and the other on the shipping. they must not know how to ship the fish. Heck priority mail is only $15.00 and UPS or Fedx is only around $24.00 second day delivery.

You have time to get everything together and also to find the fish you want. I'd steer clear of that seller.

Yeah, I think that seller is capitalizing on being the only source on the site. When I bought them years ago, I don't think I spent more than $30 total.
I'm trying to find someone who regularly gets them in, even if they're not always stocked so I can get a ballpark figure, or someone who can get them if they have an order request. I'm definitely getting ahead of myself, I just like to know my options and plan as much as possible when I start a tank. Patience isn't one of my virtues and I get excited planning a new tank!

They are absolutely amazing fish, I loved watching them scoot along the glass and bury themselves in the sand with just their eyes peeking out. I noticed them disappearing from big stores, probably due to the fact that they are called freshwater, but really need brackish so they probably weren't doing well in tanks, the same with the dragon gobies you used to see everywhere.
