@themamaj He just looks nice because he actually shedded yesterday Your son's ball python sounds like he is living the life in a 40B! Sampson is only about 2ft maybe 2.5ft so I keep him in something a lot smaller. Almost equivalent to a 20L.

*Edit: I have also highly considered getting another one! Especially since it is going to take Sebastian 2+ years to become fully grown, and live in something equivalent to what Sampson lives in.

@ThatFishThough Thanks! He is a super nice ball python. A little huffy when trying to get him out, but I've taught him that I will stroke/pet the lower part of his body before I pick him up. That way he knows what is coming. Once out of his cage he loves being handled, and give little snake kisses with his tongue ^.^
I paid $400 for him. That has been way over a year ago, but I think most Pastel Pied's go for that much.

He is super pretty! Do you know what coloring he is? Also he looks super young!

I think there might be some pictures, way back in the beginning of my journal of him out. I normally get him out from time to time and such just never take pictures because I get him out after I turn everyone's lights off.

Here a pictures of Sebastian my T+ blood python. Some of them aren't completely in focus because I was trying to be careful around him. He can be quite nippy. Mostly because I don't work with him that often, and he is still really young.

Oh he is really pretty too. I don't think I have ever seen a blood python. Son's snake is a little over a year. I think he is about 2ft. He would be fine in a 20L but I had other tank sitting in my closet so I thought son would like it. Funny he also took an extra hamster cage I had for his feeder mice. I am such an animal person that I was fixing it all up with substrate and a wheel for the mice. He was like "Mom it is ok. They aren't going to be here that long." I would get the mouse out and hold it and talk to it. Pretty silly. Son has a friend with a hognose baby he wants to place. I think if I ever got a snake it would be one of those. Just love those upturned noses. Kenyan sand boas are cool too. I like to watch them burrow. Well guess we are way off topic for a fish journal ;)

They are starting to get as many morphs as the ball python. So there is lots of variety with them.
I hear ya! He probably enjoys all that extra space! Poor mice. Although I guess it is all about the same in the end even with frozen/thawed. They had to die too. >.<
You should totally get the baby hognose! I've been thinking about getting one, especially since Sebastian is going to have to be upgraded here in a bit and a male hognose would fit perfect in a 16q tub. I also have a spare heat mat...
I guess since it is my journal we aren't too far off topic

I sure enjoy the reptile discussions. Other reading has been on pacman frogs. They would be an easy addition for a 10 gallon. Have also researchex bumblebee, red eye tree frogs, darts and whites tree frogs. Then I think of chameleons again. Oh the choices! Do you handle your panther at all? I know they are more display animals but heard some tolerate it.

Pacman frogs are cool! Don't they get really big?
If you want to do a super cool planted vivarium, and go all out with easy maintenance dart frogs are the way to go! I feed my guys flightless fruit flies every other day, mist their cage down in the morning, and that is it. They don't need heat or fancy lights. You just need an appropriate size tank, and a light that can grow plants. I do recommend getting a bold species though. My guys hide a lot unless the flies are out, or the front of the tank has heavy condensation so they can't see out that well.

I never get Kimchi out. He is a big grump. That is why I named him Kimchi: fermented vegetables with hot seasoning. If he sees you stick one little finger in his cage he starts to bow up and get angry. Then if you keep your hand in his cage or get near him, which I have to do sometimes to get poo out, he'll flare up, open his mouth, and I have been bit before if I do get too close and don't judge how fast he'll move. He is definitely just a display animal, although I have seen quite a few panthers that would tolerate handling. I guess it just tends if you get one with that personality or not. Kimchi was a big grump when I got him as a baby. So he has always been that way.
