Yes! That is why I loved the picture so much. I wish I had gotten some pictures of the chameleons I saw at the show. They were so pretty but I think your panther is still the prettiest one I have seen. It shows how beautiful their colors can be when they are thriving in own environment. Gee I just really love animals. I do get a bit discouraged though when friends or coworkers say things like oooh I would never have that. Well don't get a snake! How could you hold that? And how many animals do you have now? Do you ever get that response? I know not everyone has the same hobby or appreciates animals, but makes me frustrated. I should say "ooh how could you hold a golf club???? So repulsive. haha" Sounds about as silly doesn't it.

Thanks! Kimchi appreciates the comment! You're totally right though, the chameleons at the show aren't as colorful because they are stressed from being at the show. Of course though, they can totally color up too.
Yeah I get that response a lot. "Why do you have so many animals? Do you really need all of those animals?" The worst thing I get sometimes from family members especially are about Sampson, and Sebastian. A lot of my family hates snakes, and they tell me I need to get rid of them. "I can't believe you have one. Won't he attack you? Won't he chock you?" Normally I try to redirect them, and educate, but sometimes I have go off...which I know I shouldn't. Like seriously? You think this snake, that is currently curled up in a ball, is going to attack me? My parents and my sister don't care about them, so I tell the other family members too that, you don't live here so why does it matter I just really like animals and they are my hobby so I just keep going on about them; learning, reading, and keeping them is apart of that. My parents actually love my reptile/fish. My Mom is always amazed and asks me questions, and my Dad comes in my room all the time to watch Kimchi, and Atticus. I totally understand your frustration. I think the best thing to do is remember it is what makes you happy, and something you are passionate about, so you stick to it! Don't let others discourage you at all. We crazy animal lovers have to stick together!

Thanks! Do you ever watch Brain Barczyk on YouTube? He does SnakeBytes and some other great vlogs. He has a tshirt that has a snake that says "respect don't fear". I thought that was a cool motto. I think a lot of people have preconceived ideas about some animals. As you said, sometimes it is a lack of education about the animal. My dad was a big reptile lover so I probably got love of animals from him. My mom, on the other hand, would be all with your family members that snake will eat you alive! I personally hadn't had much first hand experience with a snake until my son got one. I was never scared of them and thought interesting but couldn't imagine keeping one. Now that I am around son's a lot it is really cool. In fact I usually come in the door saying "hey honey...can I hold the snake?" He just laughs at me. I run into some similar issues with people having great reservations about lizards. One of my neighbors asked me earlier about my new gecko when daughter mentioned it. They said you mean you actually let it out? Yep Tango is a killer at 8 weeks lol. I have dragons that roam the room too. At least I keep the neighbors entertained ;)

Speaking of cool lizards, have you ever seen a Steppe Runner Lizard? I happened upon them on YouTube and they are so cool. They are small lizards from Romania, Ukraine and Western Russia. From what I read they are now being captive bred but are fairly new to the pet trade. They are known for docile temperament which is unusual for a smaller lizard. Here is a link on care with some pictures you might enjoy seeing. Alas I must stay off YouTube, but since daughter adopted from Russia it makes the idea of this lizard extra enticing. Definitely one I will keep on my radar.

Yes I do. I watch him everyday! Sometimes I question his husbandry, especially with the big snakes and how they shed, but I think the has a really good message that he wants to share. He also is very passionate about helping reptiles be understood instead of frowned upon. I think I got lucky with my parents tolerating my reptiles, mostly because when I was younger I use to bring home all kinds of stuff and they would have to tell me no. It sounds like you should watch out for Tango! He might get you My neighbors don't know that I have lizards, or snakes so that might be a good thing. One day I would like to get an Argentine Black & White Tegu, or a Colombian Tegu. That would be entertaining for the neighbors if I took it outside...

I have never seen one! They seem cool! It appears you can keep them in a 20L too? Seems like easy to keep too. Maybe you should look into getting one?

Journal Update:

Just a quick little blurb of what is going on. I did decide to break down the saltwater tank, and make it into a planted freshwater tank. I had someone who was willing to take the clowns, the dottybacks, and angel in. Of course I did let them know that they were battling ich, which was totally fine with them, because they always quarantine anyways. As of now, the tank is still semi-full but ready to be taken apart. I'm hoping to have it up and running later this week or by next week so I can start the cycle. Currently I am looking at this stocking list:
- 6 Neon Dwarf Rainbows
- 8-10 Cardinal Tetras
- 8-10 Harlequin Rasboras
- ? Cherry Shrimp

I also cancelled one of the Dragon Strand cages that I will be getting at the end of the month. I have been debating for weeks what to put in the other one, one is getting a Male Jackson's Chameleon, but I just could not decide. None of the other species really appeal to me (I considered other chameleons, arboreal lizards, geckos, etc.), so I decided to get something that I really want to keep. The species that I am considering will not work in the cage, hence why I cancelled my order for it. I'm hoping that it will be ok in Sebastian's old tub, but even if I have to get a bigger one I'm totally ok with that too. I'll let you know what it is if a deal with the breeder, I'm considering, goes through.

Journal Update:

I went and got some of the supplies today for the 46G, as well as some of the stuff that I will need for the new chameleon cage. I haven't quite decided on plants yet. I did get one plant, I'll have the check the tag can't remember the name, and I have one plant that I'm going to use. It is currently in Atticus's enclosure.

I completely tore down the 46G today. It was disgusting! I never knew a fish tank could sell that bad. Then the filter smelt even worse. No idea why, because it was actually pretty clean. Well needless to say everything got a really good scrubbing down.

Not much else going on. Just have to wait for packages to show up now...
Also enjoy a picture of Atticus.

He is something! If he isn't begging to be let out, then he is on his branches watching me. The best thing I ever did for him, was move him to the bigger enclosure where he has plenty of height to watch over his "territory".

Journal Update:

I ordered Dubias the other weekend, and the postal service kind of messed up, and took forever to deliver them. Luckily they finally showed up yesterday, and I was able to feed this morning. Kimchi, Atticus, and Scarlett were kind of upset that it took forever.
Kimchi's bromeliad has started to die off. Not too sure why, however it does have a pup growing on it which is doing good. So I'll probably take if off and put it where the one is now. The Pothos in the dart frog tank has been growing like crazy! It has probably been adding at least 3 new leaves every week now.
Still deciding on getting that extra reptile. The breeder that I have been looking at has some decently priced babies for sale, but I don't know if I want to wait until I get a job to get one or not...I am probably going to see about getting a part-time job somewhere because sitting around the house doing stuff hasn't been that thrilling.

The 46G is still sitting empty. I guess I got a little too excited about getting it all together this week. I should get some of my plants, and the new filter stuff in today. Hopefully the driftwood will be in next week, and possibly the last plant. I'm going to let one of the new filter sponges sit in the 20G for a week/week and a half/two weeks, then place it into the filter. I also bought a small thing of quick start too to help cycle the aquarium faster. I was thinking too about getting 10 neon tetras instead of cardinal tetras because I can get them easier, and get them set up in the aquarium faster. Everyone else I'll probably have to special order. The aquarium list now stands as:
5 Neon Dwarf Rainbows
10 Neon Tetras
10 Harlequin Rasboras
? Cherry Shrimp
I got some bug bites to try with the cherry barbs, because I've been having to smash the NLS pellets; they are too big for them. The bug bites (small fish formula) are tiny! And they absolutely love them! I'll definitely be feeding them to the fish in the 46G when they get here.
Rajah has come down with some sort of bacteria/fungal infection. It isn't serious, but noticeable to me. I've been treating him with some salt, and it seems to slightly be working. I'll be gone till tomorrow evening (pet sitting), and I'm thinking Sunday I might stick him in a quarantine container, and hit him with some General Cure to see if it clears up better. He has been acting fine, and eating like a champ so I'm not too worried with him. The crypts and dwarf hair grass seem to really like the Flourite substrate. The dwarf hair grass has noticeable root growth already on it.

I don't know if I already mentioned this but Nacho got a new halter this week. After getting one at the tack shop and it not fitting properly, the lady tried to convince me to just punch an extra hole in it which I didn't want to do because nylon is hard material to do that and Nacho needs a nice halter not a ragged one, I decided to order one especially for minis. It came in and looks great! Now everyone has matching black halters at the barn.

*Got the weigh in on the baby crested. We didn't gain or lose any weight this week. Still sitting at 5g
